- Cumin seed, also known as jeera, is a traditional Indian spice that has been used since the Vedic times. Jeera is a recommended treatment in Ayurveda for a number of medical conditions.
- Indian, Mexican, and Middle Eastern cuisines benefit from the distinct flavour and scent of cumin seeds. In order to make chilli, curries, Jeera Rice, soups, jeera aloo, sabji and spice rubs for meat, organic cumin seed is a necessity. Toasting and then softly crushing seeds on a dry skillet will enhance the flavour of nearly any dish. With our whole cumin seeds, embrace a strong, smokey taste.
- For a richer flavour and more enticing mouthfeel in spice blends and rubs, cumin seeds should be toasted, broken open, or ground into a powder.
- Cumin seeds should only be used in little amounts because of their potent flavour, which readily overpowers a meal. Whole cumin seeds can be kept for a year in a cold, dry area in an airtight container. For a three-year shelf life extension, they can also be stored in the freezer.
